Pallet Racking Audit

Pallet Racking Audit

Why is it important to have your warehouse racking audited?

The work health and safety legislation requires that plant and structures (including racking) are without risks to health and safety. To ensure this, racking should be inspected regularly to confirm its integrity. According to Work Safe New Zealand

You should arrange for the supplier, manufacturer or other competent person5 to inspect the racking system at least once every 12 months.

It's not uncommon for racking to sustain damage during day-to-day operations, by implementing an internal reporting system can help identify and remedy issues. Nonetheless, to ensure the most thorough and reliable assessment, it's highly recommended to enlist the services of a professional company like Platinum Storage Solutions to conduct regular audits. With our expertise and specialized tools, we can ensure that any damages are promptly detected and remedied, thereby maximizing safety and efficiency in your operations.

What is to be audited?

Work Safe NZ also specified what needs to be included, which is considered the minimum requirement for an audit:

the system is being used correctly

working limits are being adhered to

the system has not been modified in any way.

On top of these, AS4084 is the regulating standard and guidance for use in Australia and New Zealand. We cover all specs from it, which includes

  • Pallet racking beams damaged or overloaded
  • Beams safety pins / clips missing
  • Floor fixing anchor bolts loose or missing
  • Rated capacity including loading signs
  • Racking frames damaged or out of plumb
